T-shirt Label Survey Results

Monday, July 26th, 2010

We recently did a survey of all of our database who have told us that they are a t-shirt label. Basically we wanted them to let us know what they saw as their biggest hurdles in taking their t-shirt company to the next level.

We are now going to compile some sort of information/training based on the responses we got so that people will be a little better armed to grow their existing business. To do this we will call on a lot of our industry contacts and existing clients who have succeeded with their t-shirt and clothing companies and they will share with you what got them to where they are and how you can do it too.

Here are the results…

T-shirt Printing + Internet = Awesomeness – Threadless show you how…

Monday, May 24th, 2010

The guys at Threadless are pretty much the guru’s when it comes to t-shirt business on the internet. They started selling t-shirts online in 2000 and have built an empire by getting people to submit designs, then printing those designs onto t-shirts and then selling those t-shirts to you and I.

I found this video of a seminar they did called “The Skinny Corp Method For Creating Online Awesomeness” talking about their different project and how they do business. I thought it might be cool to share with everyone. So here it is… (more…)

American Apparel Tee Shirts – Cool but Controversial

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

American Apparel make the best wholesale blank t-shirts in the world. They are our favourite supplier and the best for clothing labels and bands. Their advertising creates some controversy however.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WZZM)- Some students at a Calvin College in Grand Rapids are boycotting a company because of its provocative clothing ads.  The company, called American Apparel, often shows it’s models in see-through shirts and underwear.

The clothing is sold globally and is targeted at college students and young adults.  Here in Michigan, there are stores in Ann Arbor and East Lansing.  The clothes can also be found
online.  It’s those ads that some of the students say are too sexy. (more…)

American Apparel – Blank T-shirts That Start Riots [video]

Monday, April 12th, 2010

We sent an email out a couple of weeks ago touting American Apparel as the worlds best wholesale blank t-shirt. We already knew they were but what happened in London last week was crazy.

They held a massive sale that went viral through social media. Thousands of people turned up and trouble started brewing. This is what the BBC had to say –

“Up to 10 police officers were injured after scuffles broke out when 2,000 people descended on London’s Brick Lane for a sale by a US clothing chain.

The Met Police said it was called to the American Apparel event, the first day of a planned four-day sale, because of the unexpected turnout.” (more…)

FAQS

How can I reduce the costs of my t-shirt printing?

There are a few different ways to reduce the costs involved with printing your tees.

What file type do you need for the artwork?

For the majority of “spot colour” work we require a vector image file created in a program like Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand or Corel Draw. They will have file extensions such as .AI, .EPS, .PDF, .CDR, .FH(version number).

Note that not all files that have these file extensions are necessarily vector image files. For example you can save a bitmap file as nearly all these file types. The file has to be created from scratch in the programs above.
